Mission week 46
BONJOUR TOUT LE MONDE!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope this email finds you happy, and healthy and happy and just WOOHOOO!!!!
All is well in the world of Soeur Vogel here in New Cal!!! 🙂 We had a great week, full of wonderful experiences and good awesome vibes and yah…all is well 🙂
Nothing too crazy and exciting happened this week, just work like normal!!! We have a few amis who want to be baptized, but won’t come to church…so that is our struggle right now!!! If you have any tips send them my way 🙂
Last Pday was super fun!! After our emails, my comp and I went to the center of town where they were having kids doing cultural dances, so we stayed and watched dances from Walice, Futuna, and Tahiti and it was so great and beautiful, and now my comp and I are determined to learn how to Tahitian dance!!! We have been practicing our hips all week!!! 😉 Look it up on youtube, it is beautiful!!! 🙂
Last Thursday we had some time to go and do some finding which was awesome!! Of course, most of the people in the street are just kids so we talk a lot with them, which is great, but kind of hard to ask if we can come and teach their parents haha!!! But it is so fun, because we are two Americans, we are like celebrities here and all the kids love to speak “english” with us! So fun 🙂 We met this one girl, her name was JAJA, and she was so fun! She wants us to come by her house and teach her family, she showed us where she lived and said her dad loves Americans, so we will pass by and see what happens! We tried passing by this last weekend, by there was no one home!
On Saturday, we had nothing fixed in the morning so Soeur Chard and I decided to go get some nice exercise and walk throughout our beautiful sector! We were hoping there would be lots of people on the streets…but sadly there wasn’t…so we started doing some porte a porte (door to door) and got some nice rejections 🙂 BUT just as we were about to give up, a wonderful woman named Lisa came out of her house and started talking to us in english!! So Soeur Chard was pretty happy about that! Turns out she is from New Zealand and barely speaks french herself so we spoke in english which was…SO WEIRD and she invited us back this next weekend!! SO FUN!! We are excited for that, especially to speak in english WOOHOOO!!! It is the little things in life 🙂
SUNDAY well sad news our wonderful DMP got released, he is now the new Young Men’s President!! So we are DMPless for the moment but that is okay, because we can now work super closely with the bishop!! AND OUR CHAPEL IS FINALLY FINISHED!!! No longer meeting in the tent!! WHICH IS NICE because summer is starting and it is getting a little hot again!!! AND THIS MEANS WE CAN HAVE ACTIVITIES!!!!! So we are planning a Movie Night in October so that we can invite all our amis too! WE are watching “Meet the Mormons” so yah, good film 🙂
ANYWAYS I don’t have too much time today, and still no pictures 😦 But all is well and I just really really really love serving the Lord!!!! Being a missionary is AWESOME!!!! One cool thing that happened this week is that we were teaching our wonderful investigator Nelly (who I think will be baptized soon because she came to church on Sunday WOOT WOOT) and she said, “Wow, you are really servants of the Lord, I can feel it everytime you speak!” SO GRATEFUL for this opportunity, and honestly the greatest compliment we can receive!
So many times I have wondered if I am changing, becoming who the Lord wants me to become and truly becoming an instrument in his hands! But it is the petit experiences like this that give me that confidence I need to continue! Heavenly Father loves us, and He wants to mold us into our full potential, but we definitely have to let him!!!
Soeur Chard and I have been studying and sharing with our inactives the story in the Book of Mormon of the Anti-Nephi-Lehis who were truly converted to the Lord. There is a difference between just have a belief or testimony and being converted unto Christ..the Anti-Nephi-Lehis were converted. They were a people who were so wicked and didn’t even know God, but were changed by a courageous missionary who brought them the truth! After learning of God and His goodness, they had a change of hearts, and buried their weapons or war, and stopped fighting against their fellow men and against their God. I LOVE THIS STORY because we learn so much about what it truly means to be converted! When we are converted, we sacrifice for the Lord, even when it means money, family, friends, and even life or death! The Lord doesn’t usually demand such extreme sacrifices, but HE DOES require us to make little sacrifice each day so that we can build of faith in Him and truly become converted and reliant on HIM not on ourselves! So my question for myself and for YOU is WHAT is your life is making you FIGHT against the Lord?! Find this things, pray to know, and lay aside this weapon against God, so that you CAN HAVE His blessings and mercy and love, and be converted unto Him!
I KNOW GOD LIVES! I know He is there and that He loves us! If we trust in Him, our lives will be easier, not EASY, but easier! He will direct us, He will help us, and one day, we will be like Him! We will live in His kingdom, and we will be with Him and with our families for eternity!
FAMILY AND FRIENDS I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! Thank you for all you do!!! I LOVE YOU AND HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT WEEK! And hopefully I will be able to email pictures soon 🙂
